About The Author

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Michael and Carey Barnes are a husband-and-wife writing team whose partnership is rooted in faith, friendship, and a shared calling to tell meaningful stories. Married for over 26 years and best friends for even longer, they write from lived experience, drawing inspiration from their spiritual journey and the people they have encountered along the way. Their work reflects a deep belief in God’s presence in everyday life and the quiet moments where faith is tested and renewed.

Their debut novel, Cookies at Midnight, is set in the close-knit town of Afton, New Mexico, and explores themes of love, trust, healing, and redemption through faith. Inspired by their travels across the country and the diverse lives they have touched, the Barneses weave authentic characters and heartfelt moments into narratives that emphasize the transformative power of God’s love. Their storytelling invites readers to slow down, reflect, and recognize grace in life’s stillness.

Michael brings spiritual passion to their work through years of preaching heartfelt sermons and openly sharing his faith. At the same time, Carey contributes empathy and warmth shaped by her dedication to serving the elderly. Together, they create stories that examine how Jesus shapes lives, heals broken hearts, and restores hope. Through their writing, Michael and Carey Barnes seek to encourage readers to find purpose, comfort, and faith—even in moments of quiet reflection, when it feels as though God is the only one listening.
